Wirral Vikings: The Wider Context

As its title suggests, the book places the well-known incursion of Irish Vikings into Wirral within the framework of multi-cultural politics and opinions from around the whole of the Irish Sea - and beyond.  Gathering together sources from England, Ireland, Wales and Norway - and further afield - this book places the fact of Ingimund's invasion of 902 AD into its proper, broader, perspectives, and shows how, far from being an isolated event in history, the Viking presence on Wirral was an integral and long-term component of what is now termed "Irish Sea Culture".
