Adele Geras is a prolific writer for children. Her first published children's book was Tea at Mrs Manderby's (A Hamish Hamilton Gazelle Book, 1976). Her books have won the following Awards:The Sydney Taylor Award (USA) for 'My Grandmother's Stories.' (1991), The National Jewish Book Award (USA) for 'Golden Windows.' (1994) Smith/Doorstop Poetry Pamphlet competition (1987, with Pauline Stainer), H.H.Wingate/Jewish Quarterly Poetry Award (1993). She also writes poetry.
