Synopsis

Macc & the Art of Long Distance Walking first hit the bookstands in May 1998. Its distinctive mix of walks, wit, literature and pubs was such a success that it was reprinted almost at once and has since become something of a minor classic. It includes walks in the Peak District, the Welsh Three Thousanders and the Bob Graham Round. Millrace has brought out a new (2007) edition of Macc & the Art of Long Distance Walking. The text has been updated and a new chapter and introduction added.

Reviews

Reviews of the first edition:

“Full of unexpected and engaging diversions into mountaineering literature, social history, the right to roam and maps. Dry humour and forthright opinions
thread the book... one of the most refreshing reads I’ve had for a long time.”
Kevin Borman, High

“Once I’d started reading I couldn’t put it down.”
Jerry Rawson, TGO

‘It brings to mind the light-hearted—and well-written—air of the classic
Jerome K Jerome, Three Men in a Boat.’
John Muir Trust Journal
