Over 120 people came along to celebrate Poets and Players' 5th birthday event on January 23 at Whitworth Art Gallery., Manchester
The next event on February 27 features Vona Groarke from the Centre for New Writing at the University of Manchester.
Vona has published four collections of poetry, the most recent being Juniper Street (Gallery Books, 2006). She has also recently published a translation of the classic eighteenth-century Irish poem, Lament for Art O’Leary (Gallery Books, 2008).
Originated by Linda Chase with musician Chris Davies, Poets and Players is known for its imaginative programming of established poets and musicians who perform alongside newer writers.
