Poems that are finely-tuned and unflinching.

Jamie McKendrick’s reading in Grasmere will tie in with the publication of his sixth collection. His poems spring out from their starting points into all kinds of imaginative directions, but are repeatedly concerned with the weight of history on the individual, whether he is writing about the miners’ strike or classical Italy. The poems are rich, allusive and carefully textured.

Julia Copus’ poems bring humanity and light to some of our most intimate and solitary moments. In her eagerly anticipated third collection The World’s Two Smallest Humans, the poems are the fruit of her upbringing in a musical family, an affinity with the Classics, a fascination with the arc of time, and an unflinching scrutiny of love and personal relationships.
