Arthur R. Smith

He is a retired schoolteacher living in Frodsham.  He taught History at Halewood Grange Comprehensive School and at Wade Deacon High School.  In 1983 he decided to move over into Primary teaching and spent seven years at Halton Lodge Junior School.  He took early retirement in 1990. 

For many years he served as the Secretary of the Frodsham and District Local History Group.  He has several publications to his name, including "Discovering Mersey View", "The Schools at Overton", "From Battlefied to Blighty - Frodsham Auxiliary Military Hospital 1915 - 1919".

He holds a University of Liverpool Diploma in Local History.

A biography of the Reverand William Charles Cotton, vicar of St Laurence Church, Frodsham, Cheshire, from 1857 to 1879.  Throughout his life he had a great passion for bees and beekeeping.  He helped to establish the Anglican Church in New Zealand, and did considerable work in spreading the practices in beekeeping among settlers and Maori alike.
